| Responsibilities |
The Application Support Specialist will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and deploying applications throughout the University. The candidate must be proficient in installs through the utilization of Automation, Scripting in PowerShell, VBScript, familiar with .ASP, and a strong background in Active Directory Management. This person will also perform Desktop Support duties. |
| Qualifications |
Minimum requirements include:
• 2 years experience with Automation, Scripting in PowerShell, VBScript and A+ Certified,
• Associate degree in Computer Science,
• Complete knowledge of Microsoft XP, Vista, MS Office 2007, and MAC OS,
• 2 years experience in both PC and MAC environment.
• A motivated self-starter with a second to none customer service attitude with strong communications skills.
• Must be able to quickly diagnose and solve desktop issues in a professional manner while communicating timelines to the end user.
• Familiar with working in and communicating through a helpdesk ticketing system. |

The Religious Studies & Philosophy department in the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences at Avila University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Religious Studies position to begin August 2010, subject to budgetary approval. We seek a candidate who is committed to teaching students, through interdisciplinary approaches, to be responsible contributors to our global community. |
| Qualifications |
The successful candidate will possess a PhD in Religious Studies or in a related-field.
Preference will be given to candidates with a specialized background in Catholic Studies and one or both of the following areas: Religious Studies with a global emphasis, and/or Comparative Religion. Above all, candidates must show experience and a commitment to undergraduate teaching, both within the core curriculum as well as within upper-level and interdisciplinary courses. Evidence of innovative teaching strategies, experience with a diversified student population and research informed by a global perspective will all further strengthen a candidate's application.

| Responsibilities |
The School of Education at Avila University invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor for Literacy and Assistant Professor for Math/Science/Technology Education to begin August 2010. One of the positions is contingent upon funding.
Candidates for the Assistant Professor for Literacy will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy. Candidates will be expected to teach courses such as Assessment and Remediation of Reading Problems, Reading in the Content Areas, and Reading Practicum.
Candidates for the Assistant Professor of Math/Science/Technology Education will teach undergraduate and graduate classes such as Methods in Mathematics, Geometry for Elementary and Middle School, Technology in Education and Elementary Science Education. |
| Qualifications |
The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate degree in literacy/reading or a doctorate degree in Math or Science education with an emphasis on technology; ABD near completion may be considered. Minimum of three years' K-12 teaching experience required. The candidate will have demonstrated effective teaching, collaborative and applied research in school settings, successful integration of technology in the both the K-12 and Collegiate level. Responsibilities include teaching, field-based supervision, academic advisement, on-going university and community service, and sustained scholarly activity.

Public Relations Specialist |

The Public Relations Specialist promotes Avila University to the external community through press releases, Web news postings, media relations, and public events. The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for managing media strategy and tracking results. The Public Relations Specialist interacts with all members of the Office of Marketing & Communication team as well as faculty, staff, students, visitors, friends of the University, and members of the local, regional, and national media.
Major responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute a media relations strategy for Avila University. Develop and maintain relationship with local and regional members of the media while promoting Avila University through press releases and publicity events.
- Coordinate overarching communications strategy, message and content development across all platforms, including traditional media, new media and online communications.
- Coordinate special projects/events, including exhibits, campus guest lecturers, ground breakings, etc.
- Work with CMO to handle campus crises per the Crisis Communication Plan.
Write and edit campus news stories for alumni magazine; Write all copy for monthly internal newsletter. |
| Qualifications |
Education: Baccalaureate degree in communications, public relations, or related field
Skills:
- Macintosh and/or PC skills in Microsoft Office are required.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, excellent phone skills, and superior organizational skills are necessary.
- Strong editing and writing skills are required
- Computer proficiency
Experience: A minimum of two years in public relations, marketing or related field with proven track record of successful campaigns.
Preferred Qualifications: Five years of experience in public relations. Experience in higher education a definite advantage. |
