Students, faculty, or staff may borrow materials from the Avila University library. To check out a book, patrons need to present a valid, Avila picture ID with a sticker for the current semester. Avila library patrons may show another picture ID (current) such as a driver’s license, if they don’t have their picture ID and are already in the library database.
Students may only borrow materials in the circulating, juvenile, or curriculum collections. Materials may be borrowed for three weeks (21 days) and these materials may be renewed twice. Students may “renew” borrowed library materials by going to the online catalog, scrolling down the page to the hyperlink “View Your Library Account,” and logging into their account using their name and social security number (no spaces) with an ‘au’ at the end of the social security #.
For students, reference materials, periodicals, and videos do not circulate, but may be used in the library.
| WILO and MOBIUS Borrowing
Students, faculty, and staff may request books directly from over fifty Missouri academic libraries. By clicking on the ‘WILO’ or ‘MOBIUS’ icon at the top of the online catalog web page, students may locate and then request books at other libraries by clicking on the ‘Request this Item’ button. When requesting books from the MOBIUS catalog, patrons will be asked to identify their cluster. (For Avila patrons, their cluster is named WILO). Next, patrons will be asked for their name and social security number; remember to add an ‘au’ at the end of the ss#. Then, patrons should then receive a message that the request was successful. If not successful, patrons should contact the circulation desk for assistance (by phone at 816-501-3621).
Avila is part of a Missouri-wide library courier service, and receives book deliveries five days a week. Requests usually arrive in two to four working days. The library staff will call or e-mail the patrons to let them know when requested material has arrived at the library circulation desk, or the patrons are welcome to stop by or call about their materials.
