Independence Events Center (Directions)
Graduate check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. All graduates should allow time to park and be checked in (INSIDE THE SOUTH ENTRANCE) no later than 10:15 a.m. Graduates not checked in by 10:15 a.m. may not be allowed to walk. Detailed instructions will be given at Graduation Practice on May 7.
ALL GUESTS, including those requiring special accommodations, should enter the building via the EAST ENTRANCE, which opens at 9:30 a.m. The SOUTH ENTRANCE IS reserved for graduates and other participants only.
No guest limits or tickets required.
Please allow two hours for the ceremony.
Cap and gown orders are due February 14, 2014. If you have not ordered your cap and gown, please complete this form and return to the Academic Affairs Office in Blasco Hall.
Questions regarding the Commencement Ceremony (including cap/gown questions) should be directed to Brenda Ayers in the Academic Affairs Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 816-501-3758.
GRADUATES UNABLE TO ASCEND OR DESCEND STAIRS:
There are stairs in the gathering area and to access the stage. If you need assistance, please contact Brenda Ayers in the Academic Affairs Office (816-501-3758) prior to March 3, 2014.
GUESTS UNABLE TO ASCEND OR DESCEND STAIRS:
There is no need for advance notification. Enter the EAST ENTRANCE for assistance There is a small section of accessible seating on the floor level where guests will be seated on a first come first served basis. Then staff will direct to seating on an upper level via an elevator. One additional guest may accompany the person needing accessible seating.
