Directions to Community of Christ Auditorium

Please note the ceremony is in the Auditorium (building with green dome), not the Temple (spiral tower) across the street. 

No guest limits or tickets required.

Please allow two hours for the ceremony. 
*CAPS AND GOWNS: When caps and gowns are ready for pickup in the bookstore (in April), an email will be sent to your Avila email and the private email address you provided on your graduation application.

Graduates should enter the West Entrance of the building and proceed down the ramp to the assembly room.  Graduate check-in begins at 4:45 p.m.  All graduates should allow time to park and be checked in no later than 5:20 p.m.  Graduates not checked in by 5:20 p.m. may not be allowed to walk.  Detailed instructions will be given at Graduation Practice on May 6. 

Guests may enter the building after 5:00 p.m. and should enter the South and West Entrances of the building. 



The Auditorium (and adjacent temple) serve as world headquarters of the Community of Christ Church. These buildings are designed primarily for religious purposes and certain rules apply when used by other organizations. Therefore, we ask that all participants and their guests take care of the facility and respect the religious significance of the building. Our goal is to establish a favorable relationship with Community of Christ, allowing us to hold future Commencement ceremonies at this venue.

The Church prohibits the following in the buildings or grounds:
Disorderly conduct (no drums or air horns in the building)
Profanity or offensive language on the property
Use of tobacco products, illegal drugs, or alcoholic beverages on the property including the parking lot
Possession of any weapon on the property
Food, drink or balloons within the auditorium
Parking in the circle drive (for emergency vehicles, pick-up and drop-off of guests only)
Access to areas other than lobbies, auditorium and student gathering room



The gathering area is located in the basement. There are no stairs, but there is a long ramp to walk up and down during the processional. There are also a few stairs to access the stage. Arrangements can be made to use the elevator and a ramp to the stage, but we need to plan in advance. Please contact Brenda Ayers in the Academic Affairs Office (816-501-3758) prior to March 1, 2015.

GUESTS UNABLE TO WALK LONG DISTANCES OR ASCEND/DESCEND STAIRS: There is accessible parking near the West entrance, and there are no stairs at the West Entrance. There is also a circle drive for dropping off passengers at the West Entrance, but there is NO PARKING in the circle drive. There are wheelchair accessible areas on both sides of the lower level of the auditorium.
