Jeanne Collins Thompson Residence Hall
The construction of the Jeanne Collins Thompson Residence Hall was a key component of the University’s strategic plan, which calls for expanded enrollment, with priority given to residential students and the continued enhancement of campus life. The suite-style facility, completed Fall 2007, houses approximately 64 students, and increases Avila’s residential population to over 400 students. Such an increase provides Avila with the critical mass of students necessary to create a more vibrant environment from which the entire campus community will benefit.
The residence hall design features sixteen, four-person suites, with each suite containing four individual bedrooms, a common living room area, a kitchen, and two bathrooms. There are common lobby areas, laundry facilities, and a computer lab in the new building. The new residence hall is key for Avila’s continued growth. Current students and prospective students tell us that they want housing that feels like home. Suite-style living allows Avila to meet the needs of today’s students in a functional and attractive setting that is certainly competitive with other off-campus living options.
