Centennial Initiatives

Sisters of St. Joseph Heritage, Spirituality and Service Initiative

At Avila, we want students to be inspired to grow in their faith. This is critical to our mission as a Catholic university sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. It is important to us that our students understand and incorporate into their lives and work the spiritual values of the Sisters of St. Joseph – helping those in need, without distinction. The Sisters of St. Joseph Heritage, Spirituality and Service Initiative honors Avila’s Catholic identity by providing opportunities for students, faculty and staff to grow in their faith and service to the community.

Key components include:

  • Establish a Center for CSJ Heritage, Spirituality and Service
  • Establish a space to house the archives of the U.S. Federation of the Sisters or St. Joseph and Avila’s Women Religious collection
  • Expand the campus ministry and service learning programs
  • Establish a reflection space and garden
  • Establish an endowment for campus ministry and service programs

"The values of the Sisters of St. Joseph have helped me to show an open love to whomever I cross paths with, always accepting them for who they are and the needs that they have within the values they hold - no matter if they are different from my own."
