Applying for Aid















Avila University is strongly committed to a two-fold financial aid philosophy:

Equal Access: Avila provides financial aid funds to assist qualified students, who without such assistance would be unable to meet their college costs.

Recognition of Excellence: Avila offers significant additional institutional funds to recognize and encourage students who have superior academic records or demonstrate outstanding abilities.

Assistance With College Costs


Checklist for New Students

  • Apply for and be accepted for admission to Avila University.
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Avila’s school code is: 002449. We encourage you to do this online atwww.fafsa.ed.gov. You will need to complete this every year to be qualified for Financial Aid. You are encouraged to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after Jan. 1st. However, the priority deadline to submit your FAFSA is March 1st.
  • If selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education, submit a signed copy of your previous year federal tax return (and that of your parents or spouse if applicable) and an Institutional Verification Sheet (available in the Financial Aid Office).
    • If you are one of the randomly selected students picked for verification you will receive the message on your Student Aid Report after filing your FAFSA and from the Financial Aid Office. Thirty to forty percent of our student population will be randomly selected for this verification process.
  • Submit all documents requested with the financial aid award letter (example: copy of federal tax return for previous year).
  • If taking out student loans you may need to do your Entrance Counseling for your Stafford Loan. Click here for entrance counseling information.
  • We will need all information requested with the award letter and the Entrance Counseling verification before we can finalize your aid.


Continuing Students

  • Make satisfactory academic progress as outlined in the Financial Aid Academic Progress Policy. Click here to review the satisfactory academic progress policy.
  • Complete a Renewal or Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Avila’s school code is: 002449. We encourage students to do this online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You are encouraged to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after Jan. 1st. However, the priority deadline to submit your FAFSA is March 1st. You will need to complete this every year to be qualified for financial aid.
  • Sign and return your Financial Aid Award Letter within two weeks of receipt. Include any missing documents if listed on the letter.
  • If selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education, submit a signed copy of your previous year federal tax return (and that of your parents or spouse if applicable) and an Institutional Verification Sheet (available in the Financial Aid Office).
    • If you are one of the randomly selected students picked for verification you will receive the message on your Student Aid Report after filing your FAFSA and from the Financial Aid Office. Thirty to forty percent of our student population will be randomly selected for this verification process.
  • If you are accepting Stafford Loans for the first time you will need to complete the Entrance Counseling located on this website.
  • We will need all information requested with the award letter and the Entrance Counseling verification before we can finalize your aid.
