Secondary English Education Requirements

 

Teacher candidates major in English and minor in Secondary Education.

AVILA CORE REQUIREMENTS (Beginning Fall 2015)
Foundation Courses (10-12 hours)  
Communication 3 hrs
Composition I-Rhetorical Discourse 3 hrs
Mathematics -- College Algebra 3 hrs
First Year Seminar 1 hr

Pillar Levels (30 hours -- see catalog for specfic courses)

  • 24 credit hours at the Acquire and Transform levels (combined), completing at least one course in each pillar
  • Minimum of 6 credit hours at the Contribute level (can be met in the major and in one pillar)
