Missouri Pre-Service Teacher Assessment
(MoTPA)


The MoPTA is a state-wide performance-based activity and assessment tool to help teacher candidates enrolled in teacher education programs develop a focus based on K-12 student learning as well as on their own teaching behaviors.  The MoPTA is the capstone project required from all teacher candidates to successfully complete Final Clinical Experience.  However, teacher candidates learn to complete various sections of the MoPTA by practicing in many education courses prior to Final Clinical Experiences  The MoPTA asks teacher candidates to:

  1. Explore the knowledge of K-12 learners and analyze the K-12  learning environment (complete a contextual analysis).

  2. Collect assessment data to measure and inform K-12 student learning. 

  3. Design  instruction to yield K-12 student learning.

  4. Implement and reflect upon instruction to promote K-12 student learning
