Career Services can help you create a four-year plan that will serve as a good road map to your future career.  But for now…

  1. Take the on-line “Do What You Are” career assessment to learn more about yourself and your future options;

  2. Share your interests and dreams with you academic advisor and other faculty and staff;

  3. Join organizations on campus relates to your area(s) of interest.  Become active; take on responsibilities and build your skills;

  4. Create a draft of your résumé in your first semester and update it at least annually; include in your co-curricular transcript, PRAISE, along with documentation of activities and organizations to which you belong;

  5. Participate in job shadowing and information gathering interviews with Avila alumni and other local professionals;

  6. Register to use our on-line internship and job posting system, College Central Network (CCN) to learn of part-time and full-time jobs posted for Avila students;

  7. Become a student member of a professional association related to your career(s) of interest;

  8. Learn more about yourself and build your skills through volunteer experience, paid work, and internships;

  9. Apply for membership in Avila’s chapter of the National Society for Leadership and Success;

  10. Work with your advisor and Career Services staff to develop a career plan, but always have a “Plan B”
