Frances Glazer Sternberg, Ph.D.      
Fran Sternberg, Ph.D., with the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education will present the lecture, “Interwar Polish Jewry: In Search of a Proper Future.” In addition to her work at the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education, where she is the program associate, she is also an adjunct instructor of history at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and University of Kansas, teaching courses in Jewish history and the Holocaust.

Sternberg has been awarded grants by the Ford Foundation, the Fulbright Overseas Program, the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture, and the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, where she was a fellow at the Max Weinreich Center for Advanced Jewish Studies. Sternberg has degrees from Brooklyn College, the University of Chicago, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Her dissertation, “Cities of Boundless Possibilities: Two Shtetlekh in Poland – A Social History,” concerned itself with an aspect of the social history of interwar Polish Jewry. Her publication credits include “War and Civil Discontent,” The Encyclopedia of American Immigration, edited by James B. Ciment, and “The State of Israel and the Holocaust,” History in Dispute, Volume II, edited by Tandy M. McConnell.
