Avila University’s Department of Psychology invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position to teach in our undergraduate and master’s level graduate programs. This faculty position will carry a teaching load of four courses (12 hours) per semester, typically two undergraduate and two graduate courses. Faculty have the opportunity to develop undergraduate interdisciplinary and travel courses that fulfill teaching requirements.

The Department of Psychology has seven full-time faculty members who serve approximately 110 psychology majors/minors and 120 psychology graduate students. The department has newly renovated research and clinical space, with one-way mirrors for live observation of research, as well as bug-in-ear technology for live supervision of counseling practicum sessions.

Qualifications              

A doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology is required. Candidates should have a record of excellent teaching, and should be qualified to supervise master’s level counseling psychology students using a scientist-practitioner approach. An active clinical license (or license-eligibility) is preferred.  Demonstrated ability to engage in and supervise research for graduate and undergraduate students is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

The Safety Officer will have a passion for serving students, faculty and staff and integrity in ensuring a safe campus environment. Major responsibilities include patrolling facility or man post as instructed and serve as a general security presence and visible deterrent to crime and campus policy violations; detect suspicious activities and watch for criminal acts or campus policy violations at or near assigned post which may be a threat to the property, students or employees on campus; report all incidents, accidents or medical emergencies; respond to emergencies, such as medical issues and community threats such as fire alarms and by following emergency response procedures.

Currently, a part-time position is available. This schedule includes 20-30 hours per week but not more than 30 hours per week. The Campus Safety Department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This position provides staffing coverage as needed; must be able to rotate all shifts for vacations and University events. Security patrols are 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older and authorized to work in the United States
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED, or at least 10 years of verifiable employment history
  • 1+ years of experience in related field/or bachelor’s degree in field.
  • Knowledge of crime prevention, liability and risk management as they apply to the safety and security fields, in particular to the needs of a university setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of public interaction and report writing and an interest in being in collaborative service to a university community.
  • Personable and friendly demeanor along with the skills necessary to relate well with all types of people.
  • Basic computer skills.

Data entry is an essential activity in this position. The position reports to the Dean of the School of Business and supports the faculty of the school doing keyboarding, photocopying, and room scheduling. The position requires meeting students and assisting them to meet with faculty and answering questions such as classroom location and related physical plant queries.

Providing assistance to students seeking information is an important component of the office manager.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Experience, Skills and Education:

A minimum of four years of experience in an office environment or educational setting is required. The candidate should have experience in meeting the public, supporting multiple individuals in a professional environment, and experience with PC and/or work station. The position necessitates an understanding of confidentiality and the adherence thereto.

Skill in Microsoft Word and Excel is required. The position requires one be trained on task-specific software as an end user but does not require programming or analytic skills. The ability to establish rapport with others as well as good listening skills are required. Diplomacy is expected as well as a professional demeanor. Having worked in a collegial environment with shared responsibilities is desired. 

Good communication skills are necessary, both written and oral. Proper spelling and grammar are expected. The ability to deal with delicate situations and a calming demeanor is a definite asset for this position. A helping attitude is one of the skills that brings success in this position. 

Being a self-starter and meeting occasional deadlines are important. The position generally expects one to be able to learn new software on occasion from the perspective of an end user.

A minimum of three years of education beyond high school is required.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience in a corporate or other business setting is a plus since the position interacts daily with faculty teaching business subjects. Thus, familiarity with business terminology can ease the orientation process considerably.

Honesty, punctuality, and being able to manage one’s own calendar with a minimum of direction is highly desired. Someone who enjoys working with people and who has a good sense of humor can make this position a pleasure for the successful candidate.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead Avila University’s default prevention efforts.
  • Serve as the team lead for the Default Prevention Team (Money Minds).
  • Coordinate efforts of tracking and contacting delinquent and defaulted students through NSLDS delinquency reports and CDR reports.
  • Become an expert in repayment plans and processes for repayment, rehabilitation, and all other areas of loans.
  • Serve as liaison between students and loan servicers as needed.
  • Perform procedures for Entrance Counseling and Exit Counseling throughout the school year.
  • Plan and facilitate activities with Default Prevention Team including monthly events and Financial Literacy Month activities.
  • Participate in all Financial Aid events as assigned (extended hours on nights and weekends may be required at identified times of the year).
  • Provide support services by covering phone and greeting students and visitors.
  • Interface with other appropriate institutional departments to coordinate programs, services and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Avila University, a NAIA member institution, is seeking applicants for the position of Graduate Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. Qualifications

Responsibilities  

Primary job duties for evening/weekend lead cook will include preparing meals for the unit, catering functions, maintaining sanitation standards, assisting with concessions catering functions. Sole responsibility of the unit on the weekends and evening shifts.  See job description below for more details. 

Qualifications  

Candidates must be customer focused, have experience in food service and must have great culinary skills.  Successful candidates must be able to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions. Job duties require standing, lifting and carrying items of 25-50 lbs. Position hours will be Thursday thru Monday, 35-40 hours per week. Candidates must be willing to be in charge of the unit in absence of management. Must be able to pass a criminal and sexual offender registry background report. A Kansas City Manager Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certificate will be required.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title:  Evenings & Weekend Supervisor

Reports To: Director of Dining

Basic Job Duties:

  • Responsible for all weekly cleaning schedules, and closing checklist. Assure that staff is doing their tasks and report to Director. Post and update weekly   
  • Assuring the menu boards are updated daily
  • Assure cash drawer is balanced and change fund is sufficient
  • Daily deposits secured and weekly deposit done. If more than $350 in deposit, we must deposit in bank.
  • Fill out red book and layout daily line up
  • Always making 360’s to assure all stations are set up correctly. Hand washing sinks, dish return, dish room, coolers, FOH, HOH, caterings, POS, and emails 
  • Assuring staff is organizing and closing all catering events correctly
  • Assure labor is in line
  • Assures that the food production of the kitchen is in accordance with Great Western Dining policies, procedures, standards & client contract
  • Will be here for all weekend meals including Friday & Monday Dinner to Supervise Service and closing of unit 
  • Reviews all catering function sheets daily to assign duties. Meet with HOH to assure production for event is completed and delivered on time
  • Keep utility crew cleaning or helping with production
  • Make sure servers know what is being served for every meal
  • Ensures that all catering associates are keeping catering storeroom organized
  • Maintain high levels of cleanliness, efficiency & safety by ensuring all employees are properly trained & equipped for their job
  • Train & develop subordinates with respect to job duties
  • Directs the total operation & maintenance of the unit in accordance with Great Western Dining policies, procedures, standards & Client contracts
  • Assist with managing of the entire unit, catering, concessions & dining hall
  • Will assist kitchen staff in bettering presentation of foods & garnishings
  • Check out employees before leaving if no other manager is available to check them out

Qualifications
