Eagles Golfer Experience Thrill of a Lifetime During Practice Round
October 22, 2012
Kansas City, MO - What started as an ordinary September practice round turned into one of the highlights of Emily Friedrich’s golfing life.
Playing a practice round at Eagle Bend Golf Course west of Lawrence, Kan., Friedrich, a senior on the Eagles women’s golf team from Pleasant Hill, Mo., pulled out a nine iron at the par-3, 116-yard No. 13 and knocked her tee shot on the green and into the hole for the first hole-in-one of her young life.
“I didn’t get to see the ball go in the hole, so I had no idea that I had a hole-in-one at first,” Friedrich said. “I know many people who have tried for years to get one, and it’s a great feeling to know that you have done something that not a lot of people can say they’ve done.”
Friedrich’s ace was simply the capper to a season in which she finished in the top 20 in all four tournaments the Eagles competed in this fall. That should put her in great shape for her final season of collegiate golf next spring.
