Offensive Line/Run Game Coordinator
Coach Matt Jones enters his second year as Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach on the Eagle coaching staff. Under Coach Jones the offensive line was awarded three all conference performers in 2011 and improved in rushing yards and yards per carry from the previous year.
Coach Jones was previously the Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. During Coach Jones time at Saint Francis the offense averaged 27.8 points per game in 2009 and 30.8 points per game in 2010. The Fighting Saints under Coach Jones broke 8 offensive school records and only gave up 7 quarterback sacks in 304 passing attempts in 2010.
Coach Jones spent the 2008 season as a varsity assistant football coach at Lincoln-Way Central H.S. in New Lenox, IL. He worked with both the offensive and defensive lines and also coached the Knights long snappers.
While an undergraduate at Eastern Illinois University, Jones worked as a student assistant on Coach Bob Spoo's staff, while playing collegiate rugby for the Panthers. Jones graduated from Mount Carmel High School in Chicago in 2002 prior to attending Eastern Illinois. He played four years of football at Mount Carmel and was a member of the 2000 Illinois Class 5A state champions and the 2001 Chicago Prep Bowl champions. Jones graduated from Eastern Illinois in 2008 with a degree in Kinesiology and Sport Studies.
