Assistant Coach Mandy Honeycutt begins her 5th year as an assistant coach at Avila University this season. She brings an abundance of high school, intercollegiate, competitive, dance workshop and studio experience as a dancer to the program. Mandy has been dancing for 27+ years and competing at the national level for 18 years. She has contributed to the choreography for several of the team's national's routines over the years and choreographs for several area high schools. Mandy choreographed the jazz routine for UDA nationals this year and the team finished in 4th place, the highest since 2005.
Mandy was one of the original members of the Glitter girls in 2000 and was a captain for three of her years on the team. During her time on the Avila team it developed and grew into a very accomplished program. She completed her final year on the team during the 2004-2005 season helping her team bring home a National Championship in the Open Hip-Hop Category at the 2005 UDA Collegiate National Championship.
Mandy grew up attending area Catholic Schools in Kansas City. She attended Our Lady of Peace, is a graduate of Archbishop O'Hara High School, and graduated in May 2005 from Avila University with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and a Minor in Dance and was the recipient of the Avila Medal of Honor at the graduation. Mandy was married in June 2006 to Clinton Honeycutt, a native of Northern California and former Avila Univeristy Baseball player. Mandy and Clint have a two year old daughter named Kinsley. Together they opened a new dance studio in fall 2010 in the Raymore-Belton area called The Movement & Company, Dance & Performing Arts Center.
