The Avila Dance Team is currently recruiting for the 2012-2013 team. If you are interested in becoming an Avila Glitter Girl, please fill out the prospect questionnaire.
The Avila dance team recently competed at the 2011 Universal Dance and Cheer Association Collegiate National Championships and enjoyed its best overall finish since 2005, when the Eagles won the national hip-hop competition.
The Eagles placed fourth in both open hip-hop and open jazz at the competition, held at the ESPN Wild World of Sports Complex on the Disney Resorts in Orlando, Fla. That marked the first year since 2005 that the Eagles placed that high in both dance styles.
Avila's hip-hop routine was choreographed by Laura Edwards, who most recently worked with Brittany Spears' “Circus” tour and was on America's Best Dance Crew on MTV.
Mandy Honeycutt, a 2005 Glitter Girl alum and current assistant coach, choreographed the Eagles' jazz routine, the first time she has choreographed a routine for the UDA national competition.
The Eagles dance squad was led by senior co-captains Emma Vogt and Paige Solomon
