Kansas
City , MO- The Eagles go into Tuesday's
game knowing they must win in order to keep their dreams of making
the conference tournament alive. They were on their heels the first
twenty minutes as William Jewell controlled the game. Something
sparked in them and they started taking it to Jewell. It was an
even match and was physically fought to the end. Jewell outshot
the Eagles 29 to 10.
In the 80 th minute of the
game, Danielle Price scored a great goal to the lower right corner
with the assist coming from Mollie Brown. The Eagles fought hard
to keep Jewell scoreless and Price's lone goal held up as the game
winner. Avila keeper Renee Rudder played a great game recording
15 saves, some of them being key to the win.
Coach Clements was excited
for the girls. He stated, “They pulled off a great win. It was a
team goal to make the conference tournament and they managed to
come together in the last regular season game to make that happen.
Next week will be another chance for them to prove to themselves
that they can do it.”
The Eagles made the conference
tournament for the first time in school history. They will face
off on Tuesday against William Jewell in the first round of the
tournament in Liberty , MO. The match is set to start at 7pm .
