Lebanon ,
IL- The Avila women's soccer team faced the #12 nationally ranked
McKendree team on Saturday night. After a very rough game, the Eagles
lost 0-4. The first half was hard to watch as the Eagles let McKendree
control the game.
The girls came out determined
to make a statement in the second half and really took the game
to the Bearcats physically. They still fell short, but the passion
started to come out and Avila started looking like a team. Overall,
the Eagles were outshot 23 to 7. Renee Rudder came up with 12 saves,
with some of those being great saves.
Coach Clements was not pleased
with the weekend stating, "The girls have worked so hard in practice.
To come out and have these results is heartbreaking for us all.
We have a lot to work to do and hope to get much better results
this coming week."
The Eagles will look to make
a statement this week in their home opener against Ottawa University
. The game is on Wednesday at 6pm at Swope Park .
