Kansas City, MO- The Avila women fought hard for 110 minutes Saturday night against Lindenwood University. The girls came out strong against the Lions and entered halftime scoreless. The game was very physical and every attempt on goal was earned. Rachelle Luster put one away in the 52 nd minute of the game off an assist from Mollie Brown. Lindenwood answered just 5 minutes later after a cross that was deflected by Avila keeper Renee Rudder was finished by Hannah McKeon.

The score was 1-1 at the end of regulation time. In overtime, both teams had their chances but neither could seal the deal. Avila was outshot 24-14 during the match. Rudder was solid with 12 saves, allowing just the one goal.

The Eagles, who last year were excited about their tie against Lindenwood, walked off the field disappointed. Coach Clements assured them he was pleased with their effort. "We competed. Last year we were hanging on to teams, and this year we are a threat." The girls still have some improving to do, but seem to be on the right track to make some statements.

Now 1-1-1 in conference and 5-5-1 overall, Avila looks to get back on track Tuesday against William Penn University. The game, in Oskaloosa, IA, is set to start at 3pm.
