Canton, MO- The Avila Eagles take on the Culver-Stockton Wildcats Saturday in a conference match up. The Eagles came out on fire and put one in the back of the net in the 3 rd minute of the game. The goal came from a great cross from Mollie Brown and was headed in by Danielle Higgs. Avila struggled to get a good shot off for most of the first half but eventually finished two more before entering half time. The second goal came from a cross by Katie Poulin and a finish by Rachelle Luster. Danielle Price earned the third goal with another assist from Brown.

The second half the Eagles saw a completely different Wildcat team and could not manage to find the net again. Renee Rudder earned the shutout as the Avila defense held them scoreless.

Coach Clements was pleased with the conference win but not pleased with the overall performance of the team. “They can do so much better. Despite winning by three goals, the girls did not play anywhere near their potential. Now, we have to focus on playing well for our next game.”

Avila is now 2-1-1 in conference, tied for 4 th place, and 7-5-1 overall. They travel to Graceland University Saturday the 17 th and looks for another conference win. The match is set to start at 5pm.
