Avila falls to Ottawa in double overtime Kansas City, MO-

The Avila women's soccer team faced off against Ottawa University Wednesday night. The Eagles played their best game of the season so far, but fell short in a 1-2 loss. The lone goal for Avila was scored beautifully by Alex Jung off a cross from Rachelle Luster in the 22 nd minute of the match. The Eagles tried their hardest to stretch the lead, but ended up having to fight to keep the one they had. Ottawa outshot the Eagles 27 to 7 and couldn't sneak one in until the last 2 minutes of regulation play.

Both teams had chances during the first overtime period but neither team could finish it off. Ottawa got a good opportunity in the second overtime and capitalized on it. Goalkeeper Renee Rudder had a great game, recording 15 saves and keeping the Eagles in it.

Coach Clements was very proud of the way they played. "It was the best game they have played so far. Now we need to learn how to finish the game strong."

The Eagles will look to turn their season around on Saturday against Tabor College at Avila University. The match is set to start at 1pm.
