Eagles Defeat
University of St. Mary 1-0 for Second Straight Victory
Kansas City, MO - Dan Myers
scored the lone goal of the match as the Avila Eagles defeated the
University of St. Mary Spires 1-0 in a non-conference matchup Tuesday
evening (Sept. 15) at Swope Park.
The Eagles controlled the
match and outshot the Spires by a 31-7 margin with 22 of those coming
in the second half. Roberto Camacho led the Eagles with 9 shots
while Ben Dlugolecki and Paul Hildbrand had 5 and 4 shots respectively.
Ray Dlugolecki made 2 saves
while picking up his first shutout of the season.
Coach Clements thought the
kids gave a good effort and were a bit unlucky, "The boys played
a decent first half and played a great second half. We gave ourselves
plenty of chances with 15 shots on goal and could only put one in.
Give their Keeper a lot of credit but we need to finish our chances.
Overall, I am happy with our progress and very proud of our defense
for the shutout."
The Eagles (2-4) will look
to continue their win streak this Saturday, September 19th with
a matchup against William Woods of Fulton, MO. The match is set
for a 7 P.M. kickoff at Swope Park in Kansas City.
