William Woods
Defeats Eagles 2-0
Kansas City, MO - Avila University
saw its two match winning streak ended by William Woods (MO) on
Saturday (Sept. 19th). The Owls scored a goal in each half although
the Eagles had more shots (12-11) along with 14 corner kicks.
The game was very evenly
matched and the Eagles played with good passion but needed to be
stronger in the box according to Coach Clements, "We gave up
two goals inside of our box and had plenty of opportunities to score
but just could find the net. It comes down to having the heart and
desire to stop the opponent from scoring and to score yourself on
your offensive end. I am happy with the chances we created, now
we just need to put them away."
Avila was led in shots by
Roberto Camacho with six while Ben Dlugolecki had three to pace
the Eagles.
Ray Dlugolecki played all
90 minutes in the net recording one save on four shots.
The Eagles (2-5) will look
to rebound when they travel to North Newton, KS to play Bethel College
in a non-conference match-up on Tuesday (Sept. 22). The match is
set to begin at 7 PM.
