Kansas City, MO - The Avila University Men's Soccer Team won its first game of the season with a 4-1 victory Saturday over Tabor College. In a game that saw Tabor score an early first goal just 17 minutes into the match, the Eagles rebounded strong with four unanswered goals. The Eagles (1-4) first goal came in the 41st minute on a 30 yard blast from Roberto Camacho. Freshman Louis Haynes quickly added to the lead 26 seconds later when he followed up a shot from Tom Wolf that was mishandled by the Goalkeeper.

Camacho added to the lead with his second goal of the match in the 58th minute from 20 yards out after receiving a great pass through the middle from Pat Kelly. Kelly then put the game out of reach in 77th minute when he scored off of a cross from Tim Wolf.

Coach Clements was extremely pleased with the effort and excited for the team as they earned their first win of the season. "The kids played with great effort and heart today and it finally paid off for them. I am very proud of how we played and battled through the whole game, the boys deserved to win this one. All of the hard work we have put in since the start of the pre-season showed today and the boys were rewarded. Now we need to work harder to get better and get ready for a good St. Mary's team on Tuesday."

Ray Dlugolecki played a great game in the goal, recording 3 saves.

The Eagles look to continue their winning ways on Tuesday night against St Mary's of Kansas. The match will be played at Swope Park in Kansas City with a start time of 8 P.M.
