Eagles Fall 1-0 to Missouri Baptist

Lebanon, IL. - The Eagle Men's Soccer team battled tough for 90 minutes on Friday night but came up on the short-end of a 1-0 decision to the Spartans. The lone goal of the match came in the 25 minute when Nyron Orr broke free behind the Eagles defense to score a breakaway goal.

The Eagles had multiple opportunities throughout the match but could not find the back of the net. Roberto Camacho, Tom Wolf, and Jason Jacob led the Eagles with 2 shots a piece and Avila had 10 shots total with 5 being on frame.

Avila, already shorthanded due to multiple injuries saw Jacob go down early in the first half. Multiple other players stepped up in Jacob's absence and Coach Clements was proud of how the team responded, "Our team defense was very sound tonight, we made one mistake and it proved costly. Other than that, I thought the kids played well in the system again. Also, I was pleased with the way the team responded after Jason went down, we had kids play significant time that either haven't played many minutes or had to play in a different position. That being said, it is still a loss and we need to come out tomorrow ready to go for a very good McKendree team."

Chris Kalicak played all 90 minutes in the net and recorded 7 saves.

The Eagles dropped to 0-2 on the season. Avila will look for its first victory of the season tomorrow when they take on #23 McKendree in a 7 P.M. match.
