Avila Drops
Season Finale to William Jewell
Kansas City, MO – William
Jewell defeated Avila on Tuesday (Nov. 3) night 8-0 to conclude
the season for the Eagles. Battered with injuries the entire season,
the Eagles ran out of steam and saw its season end in a frustrating
manner. The Eagles had chances to score but once again just could
not find the net on 15 shots. Seniors Dan Myers and Roberto Camacho
led Avila in shots. For the game, Jewell outshot the Eagles 24-15.
Paul Hillbrand replaced an
injured Ray Dlugolecki and recorded six saves.
Coach Clements would like
to thank the seniors for all they have done for Avila University
and the soccer program, “This was a very frustrating season and
our seniors hung in there tough and never lost focused. I am very
proud to be their coach and I hope our guys coming back can take
lessons away from them. It was an honor to be their coach and I
want to thank them for their effort and dedication. A fantastic
group of young men.”
This concludes the season
for Avila as they finish the season 4-13-1 and 1-7-1 in Heart of
America Conference action.
