Avila Finishes
Three Game Road Swing with Loss to Graceland
Lamoni, IA – The Graceland
University Yellow Jackets scored four second half goals to defeat
Avila 4-0 on Saturday night. In a highly competitive match that
saw five yellow cards and one red, the score does not reflect the
true nature of the match. All but one of the Jackets goals came
in the last ten minutes of the game. Graceland opened the scoring
in the 59 th minute and scored the remaining goals in a seven minute
span to finish the game.
Avila (4-9-1, 1-3-1) was
led in shots by Gino Huaroc while four others had one a piece. Graceland
outshot the Eagles 22-6 for the match.
Coach Clements was very frustrated
after the match and is ready to get back to work Monday, “We played
a good first half and let the game get away from us late in the
second half. Down 1-0 to Graceland at their place with 10 minutes
to go and end up losing 4-0 is very frustrating and tough to take.
It was a good learning experience for the kids and we are excited
to get back to Kansas City and play in front of our fans again.”
Ray Dlugolecki played all
90 minutes in the net recording seven saves.
The Eagles will look to rebound
on Saturday (Oct. 24) when they return home to play Central Methodist
University in a Heart of America Conference tilt. The match is set
for an 8PM kick at Swope Park in Kansas City.
