Central Methodist
Defeats Eagles 3-0
Kansas City, MO – In a game
that was evenly matched and saw plenty of opportunities for both
teams, Central Methodist put theirs away and came away with a 3-0
victory on Saturday (Oct. 24) night. CMU was led by Thyago Catharino
who tallied two goals. The Eagles had a lot of chances to stay in
the game but were unable to find the back of net. Avila was led
in shots by Ryan Wohlgemuth and Dustin Deisher who tallied three
a piece. Troy Atkinson helped the Eagles cause with two shots while
five others had one shot a piece. For the match, CMU outshot the
Eagles 17-13 with nine being on frame.
The Eagles were unable to
find the back of the net for the eighth time this season and it
continues to be a frustration for Coach Clements, “We have worked
very hard this year and have put ourselves in positions to score
but have failed to do so. I feel for the kids as they have worked
their tails off and have not seen the reward. We will continue to
battle and work hard and hopefully the results will come. I am proud
of my players for continuing to bring high energy to practice and
games and we will continue working to get better.”
Ray Dlugolecki recorded four
saves and played all 90 minutes in goal.
The Eagles (4-10-1, 1-4-1)
travel across town to Olathe to play Mid-America Nazarene University
on Tuesday (Oct. 27) afternoon. The match is set for a 1PM kickoff
on the campus of MNU.
