Eagles Battle #6 Baker to a 0-0 Tie

Baldwin City, KS - In a hard fought and exciting game, the Avila University Eagles and Baker Wildcats ended in a 0-0 tie Tuesday night (Sept. 29th) at Liston Stadium. Both teams had plenty of chances to put the decisive score in the back of the net but each teams' goalkeepers came up with great saves. The Eagles best chances came on a rip from Roberto Camacho in the first half that the Baker keeper Alex Burton saved off a dive as well as a breakaway from Paul Hildbrand in the second half. Robert Camacho led the Eagles with two shots, while four others had one shot a piece.

Baker outshot the Eagles 16-6 for the game.

Coach Clements was extremely pleased with the effort of the Eagles, "Baker is one heck of a team and to play them to a tie on their field takes great effort and heart and thats exactly what the kids played with tonight. Although we are never pleased with a tie, we battled all night and gave ourselves a chance to win in the end and thats all you can ask for. Ray Dlugolecki played his heart out and I am proud of our defense for holding them scoreless. Can't say enough about Ray and the four kids in front of him tonight. We still have a lot of work to do but this is a good way to start the road conference season."

Ray Dlugolecki played a great game in the net recording 16 saves.

The Eagles (3-6-1, 0-1-1) will look for their first conference win Saturday night (Oct. 3) when they host Lindenwood University. The game is set to kick off at 8PM at Swope Park in Kansas City.
