MATT BIRK
Matt joins the Avila Men’s Soccer program after a very successful
career playing for St. Francis Borgia HS in Washington, MO. under
Coach Duane Haddox.Matt played for the St. Louis Metro Strikers Soccer
Club as well. He is a creative distributing Midfielder who will hopefully
generate numerous scoring opportunities for Avila’s front running
players as well as be a dangerous threat himself.
Matt joins former Metro Strikers players Tim and Tom Wolf at Avila.
STEPHEN CARTER
Stephen comes to Avila as a speedy aggressive forward, having played
for Coach Dan Porter at Raytown South HS in Raytown, MO. He has also
played for the JC Real Madrid Soccer Club under Denny Lint. Stephen
is the second player from Real Madrid to join the Avila program, the
first being Brian Berger, a Junior from Emporia.
Stephen’s speed is something the Avila program has needed and
he will hopefully offer a significant punch to Avila’s scoring
opportunites.
DAN CURRO
Looking for a strong, hard nosed, aggressive “target player,”
Avila was fortunate to sign Dan Curro from Nixa, MO. Dan played his
high school Soccer for Coach Evan Palmer at Nixa HS and also competed
for several Southwest Missouri Club programs, including Total Soccer
and as a guest player for the Springfield Soccer club.
Dan’s strength and ability to finish scoring opportunities should
add a significant threat to Avila’s scoring arsenal.
AARON HEINITZ
Aaron is joining Avila’s program after a successful career at
Grandview HS under Coach Steve Korth as well as also playing for KC
Real Madrid Soccer Club under Coach Denny Lint. His speed and ability
to present to ball in front of the goal should offer Avila added depth
in the attack as well.
CHRIS KALICAK
Chris comes to Avila from Duchesne Catholic HS in St. Charles, MO.,
having played there for Coach Dave Thurmer. Chris joins fellow Duchesne
graduate Dan Myers, currently a Sophomore at Avila. Chris’ 6’2”
frame as a Goalkeeper is an intimidating presence to opposing attacking
players and he will certainly be part of a three way battle for the
Goalkeeper position.
