  Rodney Perry, Assistant Men's Basketball Coach  
         
 

 

Coach Perry comes to the Avila Eagles with a fine reputation as a winner and teacher of the game. He graduated from high school at Fort Smith Northside in Fort Smith, Arkansas where he earned all state and all conference accolades. He played 2 years at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith before transferring to Missouri State University where he helped the Bears to a pair of post season appearances. In 1992, he was part of Coach Charlie Spoonhour's 23-8 NCAA Tournament Team. In 1993, he served as captain for a team that posted a 20-11 mark and advanced to the quarter final of the NIT. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. He began his coaching career in 1994 as an assistant in the Missouri high school system. He coached at Willard High School and Springfield Central High School before jumping to the collegiate ranks. He has coached Division I college basketball at Duquesne University under Danny Nee and Western Illinois University and has also coached at Southwest Baptist University. Perry was named national AAU Coach of the Year after leading his team to the 1995 AAU National Championship. Coach Perry and his family reside in the Kansas City area.
