Rossana (Vallazza) Kistler has been married
to Lawrence Kistler since 2003. Daughter MariaCeleste was born in
Yokosuka , Japan in 2005. Son Lance was born in Alexandria , Va.
in 2007. While living in Japan , Rosanna was able to catch up with
former Avila ESL student Yuko Yagi. Rosanna received her bachelor
of arts in communication from Avila.

Bob Turner took the position of field claims manager
with Farmers Insurance over the property division of the state of
Michigan in February 2007. He has relocated to Michigan with wife
Melissa Vasko '02 and daughters Logan, age four, and Maison, age
two.

Steffanie (Linter) Solberg joined the United States Air
Force. She is currently stationed with her family at Langley Air
Force Base in Va. where she is the infection control officer for
the medical group, which includes the hospital and clinics. Steffanie
received her bachelor of science in nursing from Avila.

Laurie (Purk) Tobler and Brian Tobler '01 have
two children, Brock, age eight months, and Paige, age two. Laurie
is a stay at home mom and Brian works as a district director for
the Boy Scouts. Laurie received her bachelor of science in elementary
education from Avila . Brian received his bachelor of science in
math and computer science from Avila.

Melissa (Gregory) Vento is the proud mother
of Elena Nicholle, born February 25, 2008. Elena joins big brother
Evan Gregory, age four and a half. Melissa has worked for Truman
Medical Center —Hospital Hill since graduation. She is currently
the designated weekend night charge nurse in labor and delivery.
Melissa and her husband Kevin celebrated their thirteen year wedding
anniversary on April 26, 2008. Melissa received her bachelor of
science in nursing from Avila.

Liz Donnelly began a doctoral program at Holos University
Graduate Seminary in September 2007. Holos University affirms the
highest holistic and ecumenical spiritual principals as the foundation
for optimal physical, mental, and spiritual health. She is working
towards becoming a doctor of theology with an emphasis in spiritual
direction. She is still working full time and hopes to complete
her degree in four years. Liz received her bachelor of arts in psychology
from Avila.

Jennifer (Raines) Remy has been working at KU Medical Center
in the emergency department. During her time at KU, she has achieved
many certifications including TNCC, ACLS, PALS and ther CEN. She
is serving on the Department of Nursing Practice Council and PRIDE
committee as well as the emergency departments hazmat committee.
Jennifer received her bachelor of science in nursing from Avila.

Tim Greenwell is living and teaching in Dallas , Texas
. Tim received his master of arts in education from Avila.

Louis Alvarado is a graduate student in anthropology at
the University of New Mexico . He was just awarded an NSF grant
which will give him an annual stipend of $30,000 over three years,
full tuition, and a $1,000 travel expense account. Out of nine hundred
and thirteen awards given, only eight anthropology students nationwide
to receive a grant. Louis received his bachelor of arts in sociology.

David Harris is teaching “Successful Small Business Planning
on UMKC's campus. The class is designed for entrepreneurs and small
business owners, and is based on David's 18 years in corporate America
, entrepreneurship, and academia. David received his master of science
in organizational development from Avila.

Tabitha (Minshall) Harris
began graduate school for her master's in counseling and art therpy
in 2007. Tabitha received her bachelor of arts in art from Avila.

Misty (DeMoss) Burch accepted a Project Associate
position with PRA International, a pharmaceutical research company
located in Lenexa , Kan. Misty received her bachelor of arts in
psychology from Avila. ’06
Nathan Cane is currently working for Kidwell in
Lincoln , Neb. as a systems administrator. Nathan graduated with
a bachelor of science in computer science from Avila.

Crystal (Hosley) Smart welcomed new daughter Cynthia
on September 30, 2007. Crystal received her bachelor of science
in elementary education from Avila.

Johnny Turnage is working as an Academic Advisor
for the University of Kansas Educational Talent Search program.
The KU Educational Talent Search Program is a pre-college TRIO program
funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Talent Search assists
youth in completing secondary education and preparing for college.
It is a free program for students designed to help participants
reach their fullest personal and academic potential. Johnny received
his bachelor of art in political science from Avila.

John Mulnix
married Heidi Heric on July 14, 2007 in Seattle, Wash. The couple
met at Avila, and Heidi anticipates graduating in May 2008 with
a degree in nursing from Avila. John received his bachelor of science
in business administration and his MBA from Avila University.

Rachel Williams
and her fiancé Cameron Brigham welcomed their son Cameron
Brigham Jr. on Tuesday, November 6 th 2007. Cameron weighed in at
7 pounds and is the couple's first child. Rachel received her bachelor
of science in social work from Avila.

’05 Mark Teel is working
as an Art teacher for the Fairfax Campus in the Kansas
City, Kansas School District. Fairfax is an alternative
middle school/high school which up until this year has
not had any sort of art curriculum. He was hired on
this past fall as their first and only art instructor.
As of right now, He's building their art program from
scratch. He enjoys being able to continue working with
at-risk kids which is something he became interested
in while working toward his bachelor of art degree in
Art with a minor in secondary education at Avila.
’02 Melissa
Freeman received a doctorate from the University
of Missouri Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine
in May 2006. She is now working in a Kansas
City area veterinary clinic. Melissa received her bachelor
of science in biology from Avila.
’01 Lindsey
Major Hartley and her husband and
welcomed twins on Sept. 20th 2007. Jude Thomas weighed seven pounds
and 12 ounces and Jolie Marie weighed 6 pounds
7 ounces. They join their big sister
Eiley, age 2. Lindsey received her bachelor of science
in nursing from Avila.

Michael Derting recently graduated from the Cortiva
Institute--Chicago School of Massage Therapy. He was voted class
speaker at graduation, and he plans on contributing to the overall
well being of his clients. He is currently understudying a role
for the New Leaf Theatre and he plans on taking classes at the Second
City training facility. Michael received his bachelor of arts
in theatre from Avila.
