  Constitution, Halo, Football, and Games
  September 25, 2007

This week, the pre-law society, of which I am the president, put on Constitution Day. It's a day reserved for the celebration of the American constitution. We brought in Colin Picker, Scholar and professor of law. It was really interesting to hear how our constitution compares to those of France , Great Britain , and Germany . He pointed out how different constitutions can actually provide for the different power ratios between the different branches. Very interesting.

Then came the much anticipated Halo 2 tournament. Chase and Turk practiced for five straight days in preparation, only to get dominated in the first round. They complained about the controls being from an X-Box 360 system but they are just sore loser.

The rest of my free time this week was spent studying for my Management test which is totally going to kick my butt. According to my professor, I should get all the easy points I can because not many people do well on the hard tests. Nice… the weekend could not come any sooner.

Speaking of…the weekend was packed with two women's soccer games, a football game, and the men's soccer game against Bethel . When I'm not playing in the game, I try to go show some support for the other sports teams. Chase, Max, and I went to the football game Saturday and had a blast watching Avila . While the ending result was disappointing, it was fun all the same. After the game, my brother (who also goes to Avila and plays soccer) and I chilled out with a few of his friends and cooked out at our new fire pit here on campus. Building a fire pit here on campus was probably one of the best things they have done in a while. It will get a LOT of use.

Sunday came loaded with the men's and the women's game against Bethel . The women easily trounced Bethel 3-0, now if the men were only so easy. We played one of the best games to date and actually held the score to 0-0 until the last ten minutes. Some of the teams we play, like Bethel , have a lot of foreign talent, so it is always encouraging when you can go toe to toe with them and perform well, even if the outcome isn't the best. This coming week, we get into conference play and this is the time of the year when it all matters.

Well, that is about it for this week, and I am glad that it is over. I definitely lost some sleep and probably will lose more this coming week with all my obligations, so I will catch you later…
