No soccer...what do I do with myself?
  November 5, 2007

I miss soccer… no more practices, no more coaches, and no more games; it is really sad. Because I have more time in the afternoons, I have devoted more time to Mock Trial and Campus Ministry. With Halloween on Wednesday, Campus ministry put on trick-or-treat for canned goods.

Trick-or-treat for canned goods is a lot of fun as you never know who is going to come dressed up. This year Dave, Bernadette, Jessica, and Jania wear quite the Fab Four. Dave quickly swooped in and gave directions to the group before we headed out to our victim's houses. The first block we had little success and thought that we might strike out as the area that we were working was smaller this year. Luckily by the third block, we picked up stream and finished pretty well with a car load of treasure and three very nice troves of goodies. Afterwards, we all hung out and gloating about our success.

Campus Ministry also put on a pumpkin carving event from which several interesting pumpkins came to be. With Avila having quite a few international students, it is always fun to watch them come to events like pumpkin carving. It is not everyday you get to teach someone from another culture some interesting from your own culture. With a little prodding, they all joined in and created some pretty cool pumpkins. Not only do Avila students join in on the fun, but so do the faulty. Since carving can be hard for some hands, we also had paints for those who didn't want to go to all the effort of carving. With the paint in hand, many more pumpkins were added to the stock of finished pumpkins by the nights end.

Unfortunately, not all was fun and games. The second major Management test was administered and I can say that I wasn't as prepared as I would have liked to have been. The essays for the most part were easy, but the multiple choice questions were killers. Bailey and I went over what we had thought would be tested over on the multiple choice section. Unfortunately, our professor had different questions in mind than we had hoped for. I have a 92% in the class right now, so I am really hoping that I did well enough not to drop my grade too badly. But... I am not feeling too hot about that test. Luckily, we have a group project coming up which I'm sure my group should score well on.

Sunday we turned back the clocks as everyone but me probably knew. My friend Katie and I usually go to church together, but she was home this weekend, so I decided I would ride my bike to church. So I got up at eight and made it to the church in about forty minutes. It wasn't until I got there that I noticed that something was wrong. There weren't very many people there!!! I had showed up and hour early for the service I had planned to attend. Luckily, the church also has an early service so I didn't have to wait too long. Had they not offered the early service, I'm pretty sure God would have been glad to work with me on my patience.

This week is actually going to be somewhat relaxing as I don't have anything major due. However, with three papers due the following week, I probably will have to devote some time this week to those papers. So until next week…
