  Super Bowl and Super Snow
  February 5, 2008

Wow what a great end to a great week with the Giants winning the Super Bowl!!! I couldn't help but laugh as Chase and Bopp kicked themselves for not placing any money on the Giants. We kicked it off with fashion as we devoured homemade cheese dip and good old American hotdogs, only to be topped when the cheerleaders from across the hall came in late during the fourth quarter with food from Friday's. You can always count on Avila students to know where the fun is. I think I felt the roof shake in Thompson Hall as everyone rejoiced that the cheating Patriots had lost.

Yet, that was just the end to a great week. Since I had never gone skiing before, getting to go to Snow Creek with Campus Ministry was definitely a blast. After a few runs down the bunny slope I was determined to make it to the big hill by the end of the night. After only a few more runs down the medium slopes, I convinced Kyle to take a chance on the big hill, which was not one of my better judgments calls.

First off, I am not too fond of heights so when the ski lift started to go higher and higher I was saying more than my fair share of prayers. I instantly regretted to having not learned how to stop or slow down once I got to the top and looked down. But in my style I pushed away all other thoughts and took the plunge. The first hill wasn't so bad, but when I got some air on the second hill, panic hit me and I hit the ground, totally wiping out. After rolling a good forty feet, I finally came to a stop with a coat full of snow and an aching back. However, I wasn't about to let the mountain defeat me.

The next time down wasn't any better as I turned into a living snowball, tumbling down the first hill, landing hard on my face. I did think about giving up after that, but that just wasn't in my nature. By the end of the night, I was flying down the hill like a pro, even though I still had no idea how to slow down. The best part was that I convinced Bernadette and Johanna to go down with me which was hilarious as they both wiped out too. They were not too happy with me since I told them that it wasn't that bad of a hill.

With so many other fun things that happened last week from chilling with the guys for the Super Bowl to skiing with Campus Ministry, the week couldn't have been any better.
