One more
week before I am done with classes which is really exciting.
The feeling is kind of surreal since it seems like just yesterday
I was talking to my dad about the possibility of going to
Avila to play soccer. However, even as everything is coming
to a close, there were still plenty of things to keep me on
my toes this week.
The student leadership
award ceremony this week is definitely going to be one of
those moments that I look back upon and can't help but smile.
The reason is because of one award: the Sr. Ellen Marie Gavin
Award. It usually goes to members of Campus Ministry who put
countless hours into the helping of those around the campus
and community. Someone like Jenn or Bernadette. Yet, somehow,
the team voted that I should receive it this year. This truly
humbled me because I really don't think I deserve such an
honor. While I help out as much as possible, it just seems
that others are more deserving than myself. It boggles my
mind why my friends would vote for me to receive the award,
which makes me even more humble to receive such an honor.
After attending the
award ceremony, I went to watch my brother Jeremy play in
a soccer tournament not far from Avila. Jeremy's team usually
isn't the best but was playing extremely well and managed
to make to make it to the finals on Sunday afternoon. I really
enjoy watching Jeremy play because he reminds me of myself
back when I was his age: small and underestimated. It was
fun to watch him take the ball multiple times up the field
and have chances to score. Unfortunately, he seems to have
the same problem that I had, he waits too long to shoot. In
the end, his team managed to take second which was a first
for his team, so his they were all really happy.
With my senior thesis
officially due Tuesday, I will spending most of the first
part of this week putting some finishing touches on it to
make it perfect before I turn it in. Once turned in, I have
a few more easy assignments to turn in before I am done. Yea!!!
So until next week…
