  The end of an era
  May 5, 2008

I am done!!! This fall I will be heading to Texas Tech to pursue my law degree which is exciting. While I am really excited about finally being done with my undergraduate degree, I am also saddened that I will be leaving behind a lot of friends and things of which I have grown to love.

Soccer is the main reason I came to Avila and it's going to be the biggest thing that I miss. It just something about getting together with a bunch of guys with the sole intention of showing another groups of guy the definition of defeat as you blast a ball into the back of the goal. I love it. With the entire team coming back (besides me of course), Avila should sport a good team this coming year. It just stinks that I won't be a part of it.

Campus Ministry is also something that has left its mark upon me and something that I will carry with me as I take this next step in my life. Before I came to Avila, I had always enjoyed working with other people, but it wasn't until I came to Avila that I finally put that enjoyment into actions. I know that even in law school I will find time to participate in projects that help the community. What is also exciting is seeing Campus Ministry grow from a small group of women to the now huge groups of men and women that the group now houses. It will be fun keeping up with them and seeing how they continue to serve the community.

The hardest part though of leaving is not the school, the groups, or even the great events that happen around campus but the people. I have made so many really good friends here that it pains me that I will be going to law school ten hours away, which means no trips back. With Avila being such a close community, you really grow close to the people next door and across the hall. So here is a big "thank you" to everyone that I have become friends with and with whom I have spent countless hours.

My soccer comrades, thanks for being there through defeat and victory. May your days of battle next fall be fruitful.

Turk, Chase, and Max, you have become like brothers to me. Thanks for all the laughs, lessons learned, and time spent chilling out with me.

Bernadette, you are a true and honest woman with has the biggest heart and passion for the people around you that I have ever seen. I can't wait to see what steps you take next year as you take the distinguished lead in Campus Ministry.

Katie, you are the most amazing person that I have ever met: a goddess of beauty, elegance, and intelligence. I thank God that you choose Avila.

To all the great professors at Avila , thank you for opening my eyes to the unlimited knowledge that the world has to offer.

Finally to Avila in general, thank you for being a college that has molded me into the person that I have become and a college that will continue to influence my life as I go to law school. With so many colleges in America, Avila is truly a gem with a house full of treasure waiting for those who accepts her invitation to seek out her vast faults of knowledge.

I will miss you all. Thanks for everything.
