Hello
Friends! I must say, I have had such an amazing week! My 21
st birthday arrived on April 20, so I decided that I should
celebrate all month long. Now, where do I begin?
This week
Avila had our annual student appreciation carnival. The carnival
featured an inflatable obstacle course…and I definitely dominated
every opportunity I got. They even had a live band who dedicated
a song to me for my birthday. The carnival festivities were
so much fun. After the hype of the carnival there was the annual
Field Day in which different teams on campus compete for the
mighty eagle trophy and bragging rights for a year. Last year,
the Admission Office won the event and they were hoping for
a repeat this year. Unfortunately, this year the office got
second, as the Jets (a group of students that are in West Side
Story, which opens this weekend) took first.
This
past week has been very busy! I often like to keep busy and
it seems like the days go by faster when I'm out and about.
Last
year I became a member of Psi Chi which is our psychology honor
society here at Avila. However, I was never formally inducted.
This year I was able to officially become a member along with
another student, Ashley. We were inducted at a delicious Italian
restaurant called Cinzetti's. We all stuffed our faces and discussed
plans for our upcoming trip to Chicago for Psi Chi at the end
of this month. (I'm so excited!) More...
Spring break is finally here!
March 24, 2009
Spring
break finally arrived!!!! This semester has been extremely hectic
so this spring break was overdue and I will add that it was
well deserved. It's been awhile since I have seen my family,
so I decided to spend the break back home in St. Louis with
them.
I love
nature so one of my favorite things to do is to go to different
parks and enjoy the nice weather outside. Since it was nice
this week, I went on nature walks with my brother. We found
a pond on one of our walks and we skipped rocks into a pond
and walked around talking about a few current events. More...

Organized
chaos has been the theme in my life so far. Everything has been
hectic but very fun. There were a lot of events on campus this
week, and I tried to take part in all of them.
First
on my agenda was the women's conference basketball game against
Baker. The final score was close, but Avila came out on top
with the final score being 65-62. The game winning, buzzer beating
shot was a three-pointer by Ashley. It was a really intense
game. All of the AU fans celebrated by flooding the gym floor.
If you were not there, you missed the game of the century. Go

Celebration of Love!
March 2, 2009
February is definitely one
of my favorite months of the year. Why do you ask? Because not
only is it Black History Month, Valentine's Day also takes place
this month. I like to spend this time spreading love by giving
out Valentine's and knowledge about Black History to others! More...
Happy Feet!
February 9, 2009
Hey
Guys!!! This week has been all about foot oriented activities.
In an effort to get back in shape, a few friends and I have
decided to become a little more active, however, we wanted to
find “unconventional” forms of exercise.
Our
first activity was roller skating. What could be more fun? It
was such a great work out. I was able to listen to music, skate,
dance, and dress in a cute outfit all at once! Speaking of my
outfit, my friend Christa and I decided to go retro and dress
in all 1980's inspired clothing for the event. Our outfits were
so cool, that people were coming up to us all night, asking
if they could take pictures with us. More...
Out with the old and in with the new...
January 25, 2009
I'm
back from winter break! I hope you all had a great time away.
I know I sure did. I enjoyed seeing my family every day, as
I consider us to be pretty close. Let me give you a rundown
of what I did this break
.
Right
before I went home for break, I went to an exciting Chiefs game.
We played the Dolphins and it turned out to be a close game.
Good thing Arrowhead Stadium is full of fans yelling and jumping
up and down, otherwise I would have been frozen to my seat in
the brisk 11 degree weather. I also went out to eat with the
residence hall staff. We enjoyed our great dinner at Applebee's!
This week I really focused
on taking it easy and having fun to avoid getting too stressed
out before finals. I actually had a lot of time on my hands to
my surprise. To help others ease the stress of finals week, my
friend Christa and I decided to throw a winter board game bash.
We had snacks, music, movies and board games to help everyone
take their minds off of finals and to give them a study break.
It turned out great! Lots of people came to have fun and relax.
After that, I went to a “white elephant” gift exchange party.
If you have never heard of this before, it means you give someone
a gift that you already have. It was my first time participating
in anything like that. I got this cool Alaskan bobble head bear!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!
December 8, 2008
Hey
guys! What's up? It's almost my favorite time of the year…Christmas!
I know you're probably wondering why I'm so excited a week before
finals, but the truth is, I love the holiday season. I love
to eat, sleep and spend time with my family and friends. But
what I also like to do is spend time with my friends here on
campus before we all go our separate ways for winter break.
This
week was kind of mellow actually. First I went to the men's
basketball game. It was a pretty close game! While at the game,
I got to see a few friends that were visiting from California.
So it was great to see them. More...
Wow! What a busy week...Almost time for break!
November 24, 2008
Heeeeeeyy everybody! So let's
hop right to it! So this week has been incredibly busy! No not
with parties or dates to the movies like I wish it were…but mostly
with…HOMEWORK!!!! The very thought of it makes me never want to
look at a book again! But on the flip side to that, I did make
time to hang out with friends and I actually made the most out
of some of my assignments by making them a little fun( Yes, I
did say fun) and having a long deserving “girls night” with my
friends. More...

Hey
friends! I put that explanation point at the end to express
my enthusiasm for all the new beginnings that came along this
week. Aside from being miserably ill this past week I had a
lot of fun. So here's how it all began… More...
Hello my friends! Welcome to my Student Journal!
November 10, 2008
Heeeeeeyy! Since this is my
first entry, I would like to take the time to tell you all a little
bit about myself. My name is Jennifer (I always wished I had a
more interesting name) and I'm a junior here at Avila. I'm double
majoring in Psychology and Sociology. I graduated from Hazelwood
Central High school in St. Louis, Missouri in 2006. I'm 20 years
old, and ever so proud that I am at the two decade mark! I am
a Resident Hall Assistand (RA) for Carondelet Hall and I work
in the Admisison Office as an Intern. That's me in a nutshell.
Now that we are friends, let me tell you about that craziness
that is my life. More...
