(August 7, 2017) KANSAS CITY, MO – The Hartsook Institute at Avila University will hold its fourth annual Inspired Fundraising Summit on August 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Goppert Theatre on the Avila University campus. The event is designed for fundraisers, CEOs, executive directors, philanthropists, board members and nonprofit professionals.

The Inspired Fundraising Summit will offer educational information designed for new participants to learn more about the fundraising industry, while giving already established fundraising professionals additional tools for excelling in the field. Those attending will discover how to balance daily activities to best stay energized, become more confident in creating fundraising trajectory, increase fundraising income by 10%, identify the best ways to communicate with donors, and tap into 25 years of research on bequest fundraising.

The speakers include:

Professor Jen Shang, Philanthropic Psychologist and Director of Research at the Hartsook Centre for Sustainable Philanthropy at Plymouth Business School in the United Kingdom, begins the program by presenting The Future of Philanthropic Innovation: Philanthropic Literacy for Leaders.

Roger Craver, disruptor and challenger of the philanthropic status quo, author of Retention Fundraising: the Art and Science of Keeping Your Donors for Life and editor of the internationally lauded The Agitator, a daily blog on fundraising trends, presents “Please Don’t Eat the Poinsettia: The urgent need to move from myth-based to evidence-based practices in fundraising.”

A philanthropy panel follows the presentations. Panelists include:

Adrian Sargeant, Ph.D., Hartsook Centre for Sustainable Philanthropy
Lamar Hunt, Jr., Founder of Loretto Foundation, Loretto Properties, LLC, and owner of the Missouri Mavericks
Kent Sunderland, President of The Sunderland Foundation and Vice Chairman of Ash Grove Cement Company

The day will conclude with a wine and cheese reception.

Recent studies have shown that there will be a significant uptick in the growth of fundraising careers in the future. According to Salaries.com, the title wave of baby boomer retirements will help to stimulate growth. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the field is expecting to grow 9% before the end of the year 2024.
