Dr. Reulan Levin, professor of education, will deliver the spring Ploghoft Lecture at Northwest Missouri State University at 7 p.m., Monday Mar. 17 in the Charles Johnson Theater on Northwest’s campus.
Levin joined the Avila faculty in 1996. She is a former Fulbright scholar, and has written curriculum for Senegal, West Africa, and for the United States Department of Education. She has also taught in England, where she researched integrated thematic curriculum.
Levin brings to Avila a distinguished career that has spanned over 36 years in all areas of education and administration. Most notably, Dr. Levin has been a long-standing advocate for at-risk and socially disadvantaged students. Dr. Levin’s exemplary career was recently featured in The Kansas City Star in an article by higher-ed reporter Mara Rose Williams.
Currently, Levin is a consultant for the National Urban Alliance for Effective Education. She is also an in-demand keynote speaker and presenter in areas of diversity, educational equity and curriculum development.
