Angie Heer, Vice President for Advancement and External Relations at Avila University since October, 2011, has been selected as a member of the 2014 Class of Influential Women by KC Business magazine.
Heer, who leads the University’s fundraising, alumni and marketing programs, including oversight of the $43 million Centennial Campaign, will be featured in the March issue of the magazine. The class will be honored at a reception and program March 19 at the Polsky Theater at the Carlsen Center on the campus of Johnson County Community College.
The Eighth Annual Influential Women program celebrates outstanding female Kansas City leaders in the creative, entrepreneurial, non-profit and corporate communities. Since the program’s inception, KC Business has honored more than 200 women. The class of 2014 continues the tradition of redefining what it means to be a woman in the Kansas City community and business world.
“Angie Heer is the finest example of a bright, highly competent, caring and effective leader who not only delivers outstanding results, but does so while promoting the growth and development of the people with whom she works and the organization that benefits from her skills,” said Ron Slepitza, Ph.D., CSJA, president.
Heer assumed leadership of Avila’s Advancement team after working 10 years at Harvesters - The Community Food Network in Kansas City, Mo. In a little more than two years, she has helped lead the University to unprecedented growth in fundraising, endowment and alumni engagement. Avila’s annual Steer Dinner & Auction has raised record amounts of funding for student scholarships each of those years, and the University is 73 percent to goal in successfully completing the Centennial Campaign by 2016.
Heer is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Council for Advancement & Support of Education and serves on the board of the Northland Community Foundation.
