Five players on the Avila University women’s soccer team were named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Soccer Scholar-Athletes for their work on the soccer field and in the classroom.
Jordan Burns, a junior defender from Springfield, Mo., Tracie Geile, a senior midfielder from O’Fallon, Mo., Jamie Nilica, a junior midfielder from St. Louis, Chelsea Tilbury, a senior midfielder from Blue Springs, Mo. and Emily Volker, a senior forward from Hays, Kan., all received the honor by maintaining a minimum 3.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale and achieving at least a junior academic status.
In all, the NAIA announced 507 women’s soccer scholar-athletes across the country. Concordia (Neb.) University led all institutions with 11 individuals on the list.
