Advantage adds four graduate certificates
New offerings include graduate-certificate programs in strategic human resources,
executive coaching, executive leadership and instructional design and technology

Avila Advantage, Avila University’s innovative program that offers accelerated and flexible programs for adult learners, announced it will add four graduate concentrations beginning in the fall of 2013.
“We are excited about the flexibility and additional options these new cutting edge certificates give our students,” said Steve Iliff, Ph.D., dean of Avila Advantage. “These programs make our students even more remarkable to their current employers and enable them to transition to new career paths.”
The four graduate concentrations include:
- Strategic Human Resources Certificate – In just 12 credit hours, this graduate certificate will prepare students to take the PHR exam. Classes meet one night per week for eight weeks. And, the 13 credit hours can roll into a master of arts degree in management.
- Executive Coaching– This certification promises to sharpen skills in listening and communication to move a career to the executive level. Students wishing to become a certified coach with the International Coaching Federation will be fully prepared for the ICF credentialing process. Classes meet one night per week for eight weeks for 12 credit hours.
- Executive Leadership – Using the latest best practices in leadership, this certificate propels careers to the executive levels of management. Classes meet one night per week for eight weeks, and 12 credit hours roll easily into a master of science in organizational development.
- Instructional Design & Technology – Students gain the skills to utilize adult learning theory, design curriculum and coursework, leverage technology and social media to impact change or enhance employee development within an organization. They also learn to align instructional design and technology with transformational initiatives and organizational strategic plans. Classes meet one night per week or on weekends, and 13 credit hours can easily roll into the master of arts in management degree.
The addition of these graduate certificates ensures that Avila Advantage remains one of the most effective and trailblazing sources of higher education for working adults in the Kansas City area.
