Bob Hartsook and Hartsook Companies, Inc. lauded for their philanthropy

The two join select group as the first inductees to the Father Jean Pierre Medaille Society

Kansas City, MO – Bob Hartsook, JD, EdD, and Hartsook Companies, Inc., longtime benefactors and esteemed members of the Avila University family, were among a select group recognized for their support of the University during a President’s Circle reception Sept. 27 on the Jeanne Hamilton Olofson Plaza.

Bob HartsookHartsook and Hartsook Companies, Inc. were recognized and honored as inaugural members of the Father Jean Pierre Medaille Society for having contributed more than $1 million to the University. Fr. Medaille was the Jesuit priest who founded the Sisters of St. Joseph in the 17th century. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet founded Avila in 1916.

Bob Hartsook and Hartsook Companies established the Hartsook Institute for Fundraising at Avila, which is changing the landscape of fundraising for the future, and initiated the Masters in Management with an emphasis in Fundraising degree at Avila, one of just three such programs in the country and the only one west of the East Coast. Hartsook Companies, Inc. donates talented faculty and time. Bob also made possible Avila’s new Hartsook Presidential Conference Room in Marian Center.

beem“Bob Hartsook’s and the Hartsook Companies’ support of Avila University over the years has been invaluable,” said President Ron Slepitza, Ph.D., CSJA. “Bob Hartsook’s contributions not only have been greatly felt in financial support of the University, but in his counsel with regard to the University’s strategic plan and the impact he has on students as a member of our faculty. Together with Hartsook Companies, they are preparing the next generation of fundraisers to help grow philanthropy through the Hartsook Institute.”

“Avila is a growing and dynamic institution in which our company is dedicated to supporting their building a state of the art Advancement program,” Bob Hartsook said.

Hartsook and Matt Beem, chief executive officer of Hartsook Companies, Inc. were presented with Medals of Honor by President Slepitza and given an engraved purple crystal vase filled with lilies, symbolic of St. Joseph.
