|Eagle Alumni honored at Avila Homecoming Awards Celebration|

The Alumni Association Board presented nine awards at the 2009 Avila University alumni recognition ceremony, held Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, in conjunction with 2009 Eagle Days and Homecoming festivities.
“Avila alumni contribute to their communities in countless ways, through their work, volunteerism, faith and families,” said Susan Randolph, Avila University director of alumni relations. “It is a continual source of pride for our university that our alumni live out the values of the Sisters of St. Joseph and of Avila long after they cross the stage at commencement.”

The alumni awards also acknowledge those alumni who personify Avila’s values, including excellence in teaching and learning, the Catholic identity of the university, commitment to the continual growth of the whole person and interaction with service to others.
“Homecoming is a great opportunity to recognize these outstanding alumni while celebrating Avila’s values with our current student enrollment,” Randolph added. “We happily celebrate the achievements of our alumni and look forward to honoring future graduates after their time as students at Avila is complete.”
Avila University is a private, co-educational, values-based liberal arts institution founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, offering undergraduate, graduate, and adult degree programs. Avila University is located at 119th and Wornall Rd in southwest suburban Kansas City, Mo.
