Outcomes

There are two sets of outcomes used for teacher education students. The first set was established by the Missouri State Department of Education. These 11 Quality Indicators (pdf file) explain what each teacher education student should know and be able to do by the time s/he is finished with a teacher education program and ready to embark on a teaching career.

The second set of outcomes was established within the Avila University Conceptual Framework. These outcomes are personalized (pdf file) for Avila University's teacher education programs. They are matched to the Missouri State Department of Education's Missouri Quality Indicators.

Teachers need to be very well versed in the content that they teach. The state of Missouri has adopted content competencies for each subject. These competencies outline the knowledge of the field which a well prepared instructor will possess as they begin teaching.
