Dallavis Center: Two computer labs are housed in Dallavis. The Macintosh lab consists of
20 G5 and iMac computers with 17 or 20 monitors. Software includes Photoshop,
Illustrator, inDesign, Microsoft Office, and other software needed to support Graphics
Design and Communication majors. The Communication lab houses eight G5 dual-proces-
sor Macs to support video editing and other Communication program endeavors.
Carondelet Hall: Carondelet Hall is home to a computer lab available to resident students.
This lab consists of ten Dell computers and a laser printer.
In addition to computer facilities, computers, projectors, and other audio-visual equipment are
available to support teaching and student presentations.
Faculty
The Avila University faculty is made up of 106 full-time equivalent professors. Seventy-four
percent of the full-time faculty hold Ph.D. degrees or terminal degrees in their field and teach
introductory as well as advanced courses. Avilas adjunct faculty are practitioners chosen for
their ability to teach in specialized areas.
The faculty is committed to excellence in teaching. Research and publication are also valued
especially when collaboration of students and faculty is involved. The Avila University facul-
ty is dedicated to life-long learning, professional growth and excellence in the classroom.
Student Body
Avila Universitys 1,800 students come from the Kansas City Metropolitan area as well as 14
states and 24 countries. They range in age from 17 to 75. Some reside on campus and others
commute to classes. Over 80% of the full-time students receive some type of financial aid. Avila
University students major in one of 38 undergraduate and 4 graduate programs doing clinical
work or internships in numerous agencies and businesses throughout the metropolitan area.
