Ashley Townsend, former Orrick High School graduate, earns Third-Team All American and Academic All-American basketball honors for her standout season at Avila University . Townsend, a 6'0” junior forward averaged 18.93 points and 8.47 rebounds for the Eagles. Townsend had already earned Conference Player of the Week honors twice this season, surpassed the 1,000 point career mark, and was named First-Team All Conference. Her efforts led the team to a 4 th place finish, in the competitive Heart of America.

Avila University competes at the NAIA, Division II level and is a private, co-educational, values-based liberal arts institution founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1916 and is located at 119th and Wornall Road in southwest suburban Kansas City , Missouri .
