Steve Keel-Head Softball Coach
Coach Keel enters his sixth season as the head coach of the Avila
Softball program. Keel previously served as the Eagles assistant
coach for two seasons. While at Avila, Keel's teams have won
124 games against 94 loses.
His teams have twice won 30 or more
games in a season, with the 2005 team winning a school record 34
games. In the five years, the program has produced 15 Scholastic
All Americans, 18 All-Conference, and 1 All-Region selection.
Keel is a native of Kansas City. He graduated from Park Hill
High School in 1967 and the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1971.
Prior to coming to Avila, Keel spent ten summers coaching competitive
club ball in the Kansas City area. He has also umpired both
baseball and softball.
Steve and his wife Nancy have one daughter, Sarah, who played collegiate
softball at Rockhurst University.
