Viking athlete signs with Avila Brianna Wright, a senior at Cass-Midway High School in Cleveland, Missouri has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Avila University.

Playing for coach Chad Dean, she averaged 11.3 points, 3 assists and 4 steals per game as a senior. Brianna – a 2-time team captain – was named to Midway All-Tournament Team and has been recognized as All-Conference as a sophomore, junior, and senior. An outstanding athlete, she is also an All-Conference volleyball player and has been named All-Conference, All-District and All-State in track.

“Brianna is going to be a tremendous addition to our program here at Avila University.
Not only is she an outstanding athlete, but her credentials in the classroom are impressive as well. We are excited about the speed and athleticism she brings to our program. She has great quickness she uses very well on both ends of the floor. Brianna can attack defenses on the dribble or with a well-timed pass. She excels at defending on the ball and in passing lanes, and can get steals almost at will. She has a love for the game of basketball and plays the game with great passion and commitment at a very high level.

Her presence will help us to increase the pace of our game, exerting pressure on our
opponents at both offensively and defensively. Brianna is a young lady high in character
and is exactly the kind of person we want in our program. We are very pleased to add her as a part of the AU Women’s Basketball family.”

Brianna is the daughter of Michelle and Jeff Wright of Freeman, Missouri. During her
high school career, she has been a member of FCA, FCCLA, PALS, and the National
Honor Society. Her wide array of community involvement ranges from Adopt-AHighway
to coaching & refereeing youth basketball to teaching at Vacation Bible School.
Brianna will be a dual major in Art Education and Business Administration at Avila.
Avila University competes on the NAIA, Division II level within the prestigious Heart of
