Lady
Eagles Earn Academic All-American Awards
JACKSON, Tenn. - The National
Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced 120
Division I women's basketball players that have been named 2009
Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Student-athletes must be nominated by their head coach, have achieved
junior academic status and maintain a minimum grade point average
of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Lady Eagle seniors Ashley Townsend, Emily
Hoskins and junior Jamie Kenney were recognized by the NAIA for
their outstanding work both on and off the hardwood.
Ashley Townsend, senior forward
from Orrick, Missouri, was named HAAC Player of the Year and earned
1 st Team All HAAC. Townsend, finished 6 th in the NAIA averaging
19.1 points per game and lead the Eagles in scoring (573). Ashley
also led the Eagles with 32 blocked shots, 45 steals, and ranked
second on the team with 197 rebounds.
Emily Hoskins, senior point
guard from Shawnee, Kansas, finished the regular season leading
the Eagles with 149 assists, while compiling 58 points, 84 rebounds,
22 steals, and 6 blocked shots.

Jaime Kenney, Junior guard
from Clinton, Missouri, finished the season with a total of 302
points, averaging just under 10 points a game, 146 rebounds, 28
steals, 12 blocked shots, 47 assists, and hit 51 three pointers.
Avila Eagle Women finished
the season with a 24-7 record and finished 3 rd in the HAAC with
a 15-5 conference record.

at 119th and Wornall Rd in southwest suburban Kansas City, MO.
